Celebrity Halloween Costumes Inspired by Long Lashes and Creepy Contacts

When it comes to makeup, laying it on thick is often part of an A-lister’s job description. Come Halloween, they really go to town: From long lashes to creepy contact lenses, celebs prove that the eyes bring a costume to life.

From Jessica Rabbit in 2015 to Cleopatra in 2012 to this lashy vampire look at New York City’s Happy Valley club in 2005, the costumes Heidi Klum dons for her annual Halloween parties eternally amaze—and often render her unrecognizable! “Up until five years ago, I always did the makeup myself,” Klum told Fast Company last year. “When I discovered what people in the TV and film world can do, though, that opened up a whole other door.”

For the Just Jared Halloween Party at No Vacancy in Los Angeles last year, 90210 star Annalynne McCord wore extra-long top and bottom lashes, plus plenty of white eyeliner on her waterline to transform herself into spooky doll Annabelle from the 2014 horror flick of the same name.

Always the diva, Mariah Carey went as a glitzy- eyed witch for a Halloween party in Beverly Hills in 2015. “It was Kris[tofer] Buckle, my makeup artist’s idea, for me to do a fancy, glamorous witch,” the pop star told Entertainment Tonight.

Having already won acclaim for her performance as Grizabella in the Tony Award– winning musical Cats, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger added a zombie twist to her cat costume for Heidi Klum’s 16th Annual Halloween Party at New York City’s LAVO in 2015. Those ultra-pale contact lenses definitely make an impression!
